Bio
In 1991, Hookdiggy picked up a pen to write his first rhyme…and with that, the puzzle was solved. Hookdiggy and music would work together for life. He has never been sure whether it was the influence of The Dayton Family, A Tribe Called Quest, Little Brother, the nickname from his school days (“Lyrical Nerd Boy”), or his natural love of hip hop that has made his work such a success – but the final result has been worth every step.
From the small town of Flint, MI to the music “hot spot”: Atlanta Georgia, Hookdiggy has an extensive history in recording commercial material. In 2003, and under the moniker Hookdiginious, he released “Octopia” and begin touring stages promoting his sound. In 2007 he released the single “Give It Ya Best” produced by North Carolina native and producer Truescribe.
Big things in 2009 occurred for Hookdiginious, including a stage name change to Hookdiggy and the forming of his own label, Second Half Entertainment. He also worked with Redman and Melanie Rutherford on the single “A Lil’ Bit” off of the Method Man and Redman Blackout 2 album. Now, Hookdiggy works passionately on his music, writing new material and collaborating with artists daily.
In 2011 he released the single “Good Music”, mixed by Grammy Award Nominated Mike Wilson of the infamous Patchwerk Studios of Atlanta. The single received numerous positive reviews and has been submitted for many award nominations. Now in 2012, Hookdiggy is planning to continue marketing this single as well as a follow up and possible album by years’ end.
